1. Please introduce the band: Name, age, instrument, and favorite hair styling product

Brian-18 , guitar/vox , blended dead rodent remains

Alex- 17, guitar/vox , inappropriate human excrimate

Ian- 17 , bass , congealed Cambodian breast milk

Zachary - 17 , drums , a potassium nitrate-based peanut brittle-like product that, when lit, could smoke up an entire block of New York

2. Complete this sentence: Having never heard of Crumbling Arches,I wander into a show and see you on stage. I listen to the song you’replaying and then I scream, “

“…Oh my God, what’s that rancid stench???”

3. How did you guys all meet and how did you start the band? I assume Ian and Zach are brothers, so what’s it like having a pair of siblings in the group?

ian and zachary are, of course, twins. they met through conception and blabbered at the time about how cool it would be to be in a band. alex came from the fires of mt. kahn, wondered into a middle school and partook in the ambitious dreamlike musings of being in a real band along with the other two. i hopped on board during the summer before 9th grade played a girlfriend's birthday party with them, then a crappy venue, and we have just run with it from there. its a plus having twins as a rhythm section because you can tell they have a "twin-like connection" which makes them work so well             together. they are good at pretty much everything, but they are REALLY good at this.

4. There seem to be a million Atlanta bands on MySpace. What’s the scene like there and who are some of your favorite local bands?

The Atlanta scene is healthy, yet misled. There are A TON of bad metal bands, emo-punk bands, and generic hard rock groups. Industry people seem to only really be interested in these generic hard rock groups that bring very little that’s original to the table, and a lot of the really good bands get overlooked (as far as the local scene goes). Everyone is really supportive of the music scene though there are plenty of opportunities for bands trying to make it.  Our favorites would be Sovus Radio, 23 Jinx, Entropy, and To Whom It Concerns.

5. I looked at your show schedule and it seems like you play shows  with a lot of punk, hardcore, and metal bands, but listening to your MP3s, you don’t seem really punk and you’re certainly not hardcore or metal. And yet you do have elements of all those things. How do you describe your sound? And how do kids who like hc and metal react to your music?

We like to call our sound "Alternative." This isn’t because we think we're the MOST original band in the world but, rather, because it’s broad enough to let us get away with playing whatever we want to  play. I would also like to believe that we don’t sound too much like any other bands... Fortunately we have strong support from a lot of different crowds and haven’t really found a certain group that has shunned us yet. Metal fans usually like to come to our shows because we jump around like monkeys and we have a very energetic crowd.

6. I luv Ian and Zach’s hair. How important do you think image and appearance are to a band these days, and how much thought & effort do you guys put into what you look like?

We try and use our image to set us apart so try and treat it as something important, but not something to be taken too seriously. At the same time, though, we let our image develop based upon who we are and what our music is; we don’t give ourselves a false persona or anything because we're pretty eclectic as it is. I like Ian and Zach's Hair too, they be sexy bitches.

7. Pick one:

Weezer or Fugazi? Fugazi for me.

Britney Spears or J-Lo? I'd say J-Lo. Cant deny the ghetto bootie.

Fanzines or webzines? I’m not sure of the difference is but I’ll guess fanzines.

College or playing music full-time? full time....

All-ages shows, or shows in bars and clubs? All ages. but most all-ages shows have bars in them so I guess that’s a trick question... how dare you mess with my mind in such a way!

Atlanta Braves or Atlanta Falcons? Braves. Who doesn’t like to walk by homeless men to see a sporting event?

Grayson Manor or Guns N Roses? Guns... they had Bucket Head....

8. Who writes your songs, or do you all contribute? How does a typical CA song come together? And tell us about your new CD.

Alex and I usually bring initial tunes to the table, Ian and Zachary give their input and by the end its really a group effort. We usually write everything out on a white board i stole from school to help us remember how the layout is. “Captain Holmes And the Whale of Time” - it is our "industry pleaser" demo we recorded to help get us shows, reviews, and some radio airplay to help get us to the next level. At the same time it still should sound a little different than the norm. Perhaps check out a better explanation of it on our cdbaby page. It was recorded in Tree Sound Studios (outkast, elton john, collective soul, sevendust, etc. etc. etc.) and produced by our  buddy named John Holmes who shares his name with a very long-shlonged porn star. We are happy with it for now but are going to be working on putting together our first full length over the coming year.

9. What’s the biggest obstacle that your band has overcome, and how did you overcome it?

Hmm....My parents sent me off to a different high school than the  rest of the guys. We were concerned at first, but its turned out to be a plus because we have twice the pool of people to pull fans from and to promote to. That was really helpful initially, but now we have a street team to help us.

10. Tell people how to find you on the ‘net and what merch you have available.

goodness....http://www.crumblingarches.net is our website and you can of course find us on myspace and more. drop by the iTunes or MSN music stores to buy our songs digitally or tower.com or cdbaby.com to get our cd tangibly. We have some cool merch such as shirts, buttons, stickers, and so forth. If you’re out of state and you are interested then send us an email, otherwise drop by the merch booth at a show.
