LOOK LOOK

1. Introduce the band: Name, age, instrument, and favorite superhero?

Hey we're Kevin and Ian from Look Look (formerly Sex Guns & Rock n Roll.) The boys are Kevin McNulty, 18 (vocals/ guitar/harmonica/piano) Egan Frantz, 18 (drums/vocals), Brian DeNunzio, 20 (bass/vocals), and Ian Scudder, 17 (vocals/guitar), and our favorite superheroes are Batman and Frank Sinatra.

2. Up until recently, you were called Sex Guns 'N' Rock n Roll. Why did you change the name to Look Look?

We decided to change the name for many reasons but the main one was personal. We didn't feel like SGRR really fit our music. The name definitely fit us though. Yeah, pretty much sex and rock n roll fit us. Look Look feels better. We struggled a long time to come up with a name but we have it this time around. The name Look Look comes from an art exhibit at Aldrich that we visited and fell in love with.

3. How did you all get together and what other bands have you been in?

Ian: We had all been in bands playing in the early new millennium's Connecticut punk scene, and we often played the same bills. We've been friends since then and as our old bands dissipated, we joined together. Brian and Kevin were in Good Times, I was in Silenced Sin, which Kevin later joined, and Egan was in the Misjudged. The Misjudged were first to fall apart, and around this time Kevin and I had begun writing away from Silenced Sin. Brian became involved automatically. I mentioned one night to Egan that we were brewing up a new band and the very next day, a wintry school cancellation, the four of us came together that day (a thursday in January 2004) and began to play....

Kevin: We never really had a sound that we were trying to produce...We just wrote from our hearts and played what felt right, never forcing anything.

4. Your bio describes you as Beatles with a Ramones tempo. Do you listen to a lot of classic rock? A lot of kids don’t want to hear bands that their parents listened to. What can kids today learn from listening to Beatles records?

Kevin: If you mean Beatles, Kinks, Beach Boys, and Marvin Gaye as classic rock, then yeah we listen to a lot of classic rock. Well Ian and I do the most. But those aren't all our influences. I mean we all also love The Ramones, Clash, and Libertines who are essential.

Ian: Kids can learn everything from Beatles records.

Kevin: Yep, all you need is love and that Beatles win.

5. What do you think of emo?

Ian: i don't really know what it is or understand what it is or who it is or what makes it.

Kevin: Yep, that's a good enough answer for me.

6. From all the CT bands I’ve talked to, it seems like CT is a lot of little scenes that don’t really mix much. What’s Westport like, who are some of the other cool bands there, and do you try to reach fans and play shows in other parts of the state? Do you think you’ll be playing places like Boston and NYC?

Kevin: Well, there really isn't that much going on down here from what I know, but the cream of the crop is definitely Kid Ginseng.

Ian: Ii didn't know there were any scenes in CT anymore. We would love to go to the other parts of CT and everywhere in the world just contact us.

Kevin: Yeah, never really been into the whole booking shows thing.

7. What’s it like trying to balance school and the band? Do you guys want to go to college or do you want to try and make it with music? How do your parents feel about the band?

Ian: College for me is not priority. School hasn't been either. Music is. It's more fun, and seemingly much more rewarding. Egan is going to school, and he should. He has the grades and can maintain the ethic need to balance his college and his drumming. My father, with whom I live, is very supportive and comes to the local shows. He used to play. Egan's family has been very supportive and have helped us lots, and we're lucky that Ms. McNulty hasn't killed us for keeping her home on volume 10 for the last year and a half. Thank you Ms. McNulty for your children and your homestead.

Kevin: Haha, Why 10? My amp goes to 12? Yeah I'm gunna give college a shot next year as well. School actually has helped musically, larger fan base. Going to school doesn't mean you can't play music, it actually lets you enjoy it more, I believe. Yeah our 'rents are the best, always supportive, always opening their doors, and always giving us a chance.

8. Who is the most annoying person in the band? Who is the most popular? Who is the messiest? Who is the sexiest?

Weirdest - Ian
Popular - Egan
Messiest - Brian
Sexiest - Kevin

We're all annoying when "rowdy"

9. I have never heard of Look Look. I walk into a show and you are onstage playing. I think to myself, “…….

Ian: What the fuck is this?

Kevin: Does it have to be that loud?

10. It seems like most local bands today are either emo/screamo/hardcore, or old-school punk with leather studs and mohawks, or pop-punk. You guys dont seem to fit into any of those categories. Do kids at shows respond well to that? Being original can be hard sometimes. Have you had any trouble being accepted in your local scene because you are trying something different? How much of your set is ballads vs rockers?

Kevin: Kids respond well. At our shows you will see plenty of different types of kids. Suprisingly no one in our local scene has given us shit for doing something different, and if so, we didn't notice, sorry for wasting your time. Ballads vs. Rockers? All of our songs are rockers, even though they started off sounding somewhat ballad-like. Give it up for the rhythm section.

11. Tell people where they can find you on the Internet, what merch you have available, and how they can write you.

Ian: www.myspace.com/looklook you can buy stuff there and at www.interpunk.com

Kevin: Yeah write to us there. We check every so often. Love now. Ballard forever.

oK, I'm outta here, take me back to Yummyzine!
